Chick Webb Recreation Center

CAM Construction was hired by the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks to complete extensive renovations and an addition to the historic Chick Webb Memorial Recreation Center in East Baltimore. The project scope encompassed demolition of the existing outdoor basketball court and interior office spaces, comprehensive HAZMAT abatement of asbestos and lead materials, auger cast pile foundations for the new addition, and meticulous integration of new construction with the historic 1947 structure. The CAM team then installed state-of-the-art amenities including a new gymnasium and basketball court with elevated walking track, refurbished the historic swimming pool with new locker rooms, added two new multi-purpose rooms, a spin cycle room, and a recording studio for local youth to follow in Chick Webb’s legacy.
